RECOSI Reaffirms Support For the United Nations Global Compact
Published on May 30, 2024
London, UK - The Responsible Commodities Sourcing Initiative (RECOSI) has reaffirmed its support for the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) initiative and its ten principles with respect to human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
RECOSI is a non-profit organisation that develops sector-specific assessment and assurance programmes that monitor and evaluate ESG performance. As a participant since August 2017, RECOSI supports the Global Compact in advancing its Ten Principles and we engage with the UNGC in a variety of ways, including supporting our members in collective action efforts on Global Compact-related issues, organising learning and dialogue events, workshops and training for our members, and participating in various UNGC workshops and meetings. We support public accountability and transparency, and therefore commit to report on progress every two years according to the Global Compact COE policy.
The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, working with companies to help them align their operations and strategies with 10 universally accepted principles and to take action in support of UN goals and issues represented in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Katie Warrick, RECOSI Executive Director, noted: “RECOSI and its members recognise that by working together we can have a much greater impact on improving sustainability performance of commodities supply chains. Our participation in the UN Global Compact underscores our recognition of the growing global collective impact that can occur when organisations uphold the Ten Principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption and work collaboratively in these efforts. Reaffirming our support for the UNGC is an important step in demonstrating our commitment to driving continuous improvement in responsible commodity sourcing.”
